With the importance of technological advances, it is essential that manufacturers, whether dealing with computers or kitchen appliances keep up with the current trend. It can be said that Hotpoint have really established themselves in the 21st century, following the launch of a brand new washing machine range. Hotpoint have addressed important issues such as; energy efficiency, built quality, functionality, colour availability and practically. The new Hotpoint Ultima washing machines address everything we look for in a washing machine making them very desirable to a much wider target market.

Hotpoint have released the Ultima washing machine with a huge 9kg wash load capacity and ultra-efficient A++ energy rating. The model WMD962P has been replaced with Hotpoint Ultima WMUD962P which also boasts a 1600 spin speed, also available in graphite model WMUD962G.

Lacking a choice of colour is something which most people have issues with when looking for a new kitchen appliance. Hotpoint have addressed this by releasing a new stainless steel Hotpoint Ultima washing machine WMUD942X. This washing machine has all of the impressive functions and abilities that we come to expect from a Hotpoint washing machine, but in a stylish stainless steel finish. This model comes with a 1400 spin speed but otherwise bears no difference between models above.

Cleaning Your Tumble Dryer, Kitchen Appliance

Maintaining your kitchen appliance is a certain way to lengthen the life and performance, getting the most for your money. Some appliances need more maintenance than others, for instance your gas cooker may merely need a quick clean every once in a while whereas your tumble dryer needs a daily touch.
When it comes to cleaning your tumble dryer, you need to apply only one method if your tumble is vented. However, if your appliance is a condenser tumble dryer, you will need to apply three different methods of cleaning.

Cleaning Your Fluff Filter (Vented and Condenser Tumble Dryers)

When your laundry is drying in your tumble dryer, fragments of clothing tend to come away from your fabrics. The fluff filter is located on the inside of the drum in the bottom lip and collects the debris from your clothes. However, the use of the fluff filter is not just used to collect loose cloth, but also that tissue you forgot to take from your trouser pockets.

To clean your fluff filter, simply open your dryer door and pull out the fluff filter located at the top inside lip. You will see that layers of dust have formed on the webbed filter. Simply peel away the fluff/dust as if you were pealing open a banana. Then you must dispose of the fluff/dust and replace the fluff filter. To see the fluff filter please see the picture below. You must repeat this after each cycle.

Emptying Your Water Bottle (Condenser Tumble Dryers Only)

Your water bottle is where your condenser tumble dryer collects the water, which would usually vent outside on a standard tumble dryer. The water is held in a water bottle usually located at the top left of the appliance and is accessed by pulling the compartment similarly to the soap tray on a washing machine. The water bottle must be emptied with every cycle; most tumble dryers will let you know when it needs to be emptied via its sensor

To summarise:

Cleaning Your Condensing Unit (Condenser Tumble Dryers Only)

Lastly, when cleaning your condenser tumble dryer, it is vital that you clean the condenser unit located at the bottom of your tumble dryer. The condenser unit is used to help the condensed water reach its destination, that being the water bottle which we discussed earlier.

To access your condensing unit you must unclip the cover located at the front of your tumbler dryer so you that can access behind the cover. To do this pull on the handle located at the top of the cover.

The condenser unit is usually located on the left hand site and is secured in place with several clips. You must release the condenser unit buy unclipping it from its fixed position and pulling it towards you. Please be aware that if the tumble dryer has recently been used, the condenser unit may be hot and that small deposits of water may remain within the condenser unit, this is perfectly normal.

Once the condenser unit is removed, you must flush any flush or blockages but pouring water through the condenser unit. Please be sure to check that once complete, any blockages have been removed. After cleaning the condenser unit, you must replace the unit and use the clips to put it securely back in place. Finally, fix back in position the front cover, which can be done by just pushing it back in place until it clicks.

Cleaning the condenser unit must be carried out once every month. To summarise the operation please see below. All pictures have been supplied courtesy of Hotpoint.

Integrated kitchen appliances from Ultimate Appliances

Integrated kitchen appliances from Ultimate Appliances

Creating a lovely country feel in your kitchen is a perfect complement in any household. Surrounded by traditional wooden cupboards, your kitchen appliances safely tucked away in your utility room, creating that perfect ambience and saving space with complete and under silence - bliss.

But what if you only have room in the kitchen for your appliances?! Perhaps you don't want a great 70kg washing machine on display, having to remove that hand crafted kitchen door, leaving with your appliance clashing with the colour schemes which you have previously admired so much! Perhaps you should consider looking at integrated, semi integrated, or built in kitchen appliances!

Integrated Kitchen Appliances

What are integrated appliances? An integrated appliance is designed to fit comfortably behind your kitchen cupboard, allowing you to hide your appliance behind your cupboard door. This is done by slimming the appliance to prevent the appliance from 'over hanging' and being unable to shut the door. Appliances which are offered in this range include; integrated dishwashers, integrated washing machines, integrated washer dryers and integrated fridge freezers.

Semi Integrated Kitchen Appliances

A semi integrated dishwashers are the only appliance which comes under this category. This is designed, similar to integrated dishwashers, to sit behind the kitchen cupboard. The exception is that the top of the dishwasher, where you would expect to see the control panel, sticks outward. The front of the dishwasher (up to and excluding the control panel area) is screwed to the cupboard door, allowing the appliance to open in unison. The control panel comes in a variety of colours such as; white, black, stainless steel and brown.

Built In Cooking Appliances

So what about cooking appliances, such as ovens and hobs? Surely these cannot fit without confine spaces due to health and safety implications? Well you would be correct.

Built in appliances are designed to fit between or within kitchen cupboards, or similar, with the front or top left clear. For instance a built in hob would sit on top of the work surface, the top totally exposed to allow you to use the appliance in a safe manor, whilst fitted within the work surface.

Built in double ovens are designed to fit to eye level, sitting between two cupboards usually. This allows easy access for people who are uncomfortable when bending down constantly to check on their Sunday roast! Alternatively singles ovens and built under ovens are pretty similar, the difference being that the ovens are installed within cupboard space (usually underneath the built in hob) similar to how an integrated washing machine or integrated dishwasher would be installed, obviously leaving the front exposed.
